Just sitting back this morning reflecting on the weekend and trying to feel my back and feet again. A lot of work goes into putting together collections and displays for markets. Then there is truck rental, racking, packing, stacking and stuffing the trucks. Next comes super early wake ups for set up times that always makes me question if I can even pull it off. The day or days of the market happen and when it’s said and done trucks need to be loaded, unloaded and items repacked for either another show or to go to my booths at Addie’s Antiques in Wellington. It takes a physical toll but in the end I am proud of what I’ve accomplished.
For me, my favorite part has always been the hunt. Getting out there and looking high and low for unique, beautiful, interesting and fascinating vintage and antique decor pieces. It takes massive amounts of time and travel and there is never a guarantee that I’ll find anything on any given day, but occasionally there are those days that I end up with a carload of finds that make it all worth it. Curating and displaying these collections truly brings me joy and I’m so thankful that I can do something I love.
It wasn’t until recently that I found something else that brings me even more joy: When someone finds something from my collections that they absolutely love. When I get messages, notes and pictures from the folks who have taken these items home it truly makes all the hard work and time spent worth it even more. Thank you to everyone who has bought items from me. Without you I would not be able to keep doing this and I am forever grateful. I also have real gratitude for the people who organize and plan these markets. They are a massive undertaking and I personally thank each of you for making them happen. Looking forward to doing it all again in a couple of weeks!
