Prior to that date we were living a quiet, peaceful life in our two story A-Frame along the Barnegat Bay in Brick NJ. After that date we were huddled-isolated and stranded in that same house with 3 feet of water slushing around in the lower level. No gas, no electric, no heat and no more furniture other than what we had in our second floor bedroom. We stayed like that for a few days until the wate
r resided and we slowly started the clean-up effort. Since we were cut off from civilization, we knew we were left to fend for ourselves with our own perseverance and a combined effort from our fellow neighbors who were in the same boat, (no pun intended).We struggled to get basic necessities back and lived on that second floor for months until we realized that we were not going to be able to riase the house and meet the requirements which would allow us to stay. We relocated to Bayville and found ourselves sorely lacking in furniture. FEMA money was almost non-existent for us so we scoured thrift stores to help re-furbish, which is when we discovered the wonderful world of re-purposing and chalk paint. Long story short, after finishing off enough pieces to fill our new home we just kept going developing our own chalk paint along the way in colors that reflected our taste as opposed to those of that lady from England. Beachy Chic sprung up from tragic circumstances which goes to show that there is always a silver lining. Hmmmmm "Silver Linings" sounds like it might be a new color for us.
