Recycled Armadillo

Recycled Armadillo Hand Crafted Sea Glass Wind Chimes, Light Catchers, Hangers, & More! Recycled Armadillo began in a home that loved to gather people. In 2020, life shifted.

We are two sisters that grew up in Ocean Springs, Mississippi, on the Gulf Coast, in a house where our parents loved to entertain. At the center of it all was a bar — a place for stories, laughter, and long conversations. At some point (thanks to a joke gift from our mom), a stuffed (taxidermy) armadillo appeared… then another, this one a sculpture…then perhaps a toy armadillo, and so on. Before l

ong, armadillos were everywhere, and the space earned its name: the Armadillo Bar. One of us returned home to help care for our parents alongside the other, a registered nurse. That year, we lost both of them. In the middle of grief, stress, and exhaustion, we were desperate for a healthy way to release everything we were carrying. So we created our own. Over the years, bottles from the Armadillo Bar had been saved in a greenhouse. One day, those bottles became our “rage room” — safely smashed, not wasted. Nearby sat an old rock tumbler from a long-forgotten hobby. Out of curiosity, we tumbled the glass to see what would happen. What came out looked like sea glass — smooth, colorful, and unexpectedly beautiful. From there, creativity took over. We experimented, designed, and eventually made our first wind chimes. They were lovely. Meditative. Healing. Soon we were making them constantly and gifting them to friends and family as a way to share memories of our parents, our home, and the Armadillo Bar. Eventually, everyone we knew had wind chimes — and we were still making more. That’s when Recycled Armadillo was born. Today, each wind chime we make is crafted from recycled glass and shaped by hand, carrying a little bit of transformation with it — from stress to beauty, from memory to motion, from something broken to something that sings. We’re honored to share our craft with you and hope our wind chimes bring peace, light, and a gentle reminder that beautiful things can come from unexpected places.

Market Monday! Hi everyone! 👋 We’re excited to be part of this community.

We’re Recycled Armadillo, a small family business on the Mississippi Gulf Coast, handcrafting colorful sea glass wind chimes from recycled glass. Every piece is made by hand in Ocean Springs, and we’re so grateful for the opportunity to introduce ourselves here.

Our story began in a home that loved to gather people.

We grew up in Ocean Springs, in a house where our parents loved to entertain. At the center of it all was a bar — a place for stories, laughter, and long conversations. At some point (thanks to a joke gift from our mom), a stuffed (taxidermy) armadillo appeared… then another, this one a sculpture…then perhaps a toy armadillo, and so on. Before long, armadillos were everywhere, and the space earned its name: the Armadillo Bar.

In 2020, life shifted.

One day, those bottles became our “rage room”—safely smashed, not wasted. Nearby sat an old rock tumbler from a long-forgotten hobby. Out of curiosity, we tumbled the glass to see what would happen.

What came out looked like sea glass—smooth, colorful, and unexpectedly beautiful.

From there, creativity took over. We experimented, designed, and eventually made our first wind chimes. They were lovely. Meditative. Healing. Soon we were making them constantly and gifting them to friends and family as a way to share memories of our parents, our home, and the Armadillo Bar.

Eventually, everyone we knew had wind chimes—and we were still making more.

That’s when Recycled Armadillo was born.

Today, each wind chime is handcrafted from recycled glass and made with the hope of bringing a little peace, color, and joy into someone’s home. We also love creating custom pieces in your favorite colors and sizes, whether it’s for your porch, garden, a meaningful gift, or a memorial.

Thank you for welcoming us into your community. We’d love to hear from you! Tell us where you’re from along the Coast, and if you see us at a local market, please stop by and say hello. ❤️

We create handcrafted Sea Glass (*manufactured) Wind Chimes featuring our original multi-color gradient designs—blending antique charm with modern coastal style. Each piece adds soothing sound, movement, and vibrant color to your home, porch, or garden.

Looking for something more personal? We also design custom wind chimes made to your desired colors and size, perfect for meaningful gifts, memorials, or matching your unique space.

Message us to bring a little whimsy and ocean-inspired beauty into your world!

*What is manufactured Sea Glass?

Manufactured simply means that we age and add the sea glass "texture" mechanically. We do not use natural sea glass found on beaches. Our "upcycling" process involves breaking a lot of glass, selecting the right pieces, and tumbling them for 6-8 days to achieve the sea glass effect. The best pieces then receive hand drilled holes, and are strung by hand on the strands.
