Many of my colleagues were avid
basket weavers, so they encouraged me to give it a try .... and the
rest is history! In 1998, I returned to teach in my hometown of
Manawa. For 8 years, I taught 2nd Grade and for the remaining 8
years, I was our district’s Title I Reading Teacher, as well as Reading
Specialist. During that time, I would hold afterschool weaving
workshops for my colleagues, as well
as teaching a 2-hour class
during the Manawa Summer School program until 2019. In 2014, I decided I needed to make a career change, and after 16
years I left my teaching position. After taking a year off, I started
my weaving business: Woven Blessings Basketry, LLC. This
business has been an absolute BLESSING for myself and my family (Husband, Rich; Son, Ty; Daughter, Joelly)! I have the best of both worlds: spending time with my family and still being able to teach! My business travels and teaches workshops regularly at the following locations: Mosquito Hill Nature Center, New London, WI; I do occasional “pop-up” special events throughout the year: weaving on location at the Symco Thresheree (Antique Tractor Pull) the Symco Weekender (car show), and A Day in the Life of an Amish Weaving Workshop in Cecil, WI
I also do private groups. Women love to get together to weave! If you wish to host a class, I require a minimum of 8 attendees (50-mile radius). Distances further than 40 miles will be considered, with additional requirements. Custom orders are always welcome
