Happy Sunday!! Hope your summer has been a great one so far. I was able to pick up a bunch of pork loin and chicken breast at our local grocery store during a huge sale. I love canning both of these for easy dinners that I can whip up in record time. I'll post some of my ideas/recipes in the comments over the next few days. I just cut them up into cubes and pack clean jars tightly. Wipe the rims and add the lids. I pressure can pints for 75 minutes and quarts for 90 min. Y'all go can something!

Last night was all about my honey. For Father's Day, he was treated with the most delicious bacon-wrapped pork steaks I have ever had. They were Oklahoma grown and purchased at Happy Heart Homestead. The corn was also bought there and was brought in from Webbers Falls. I shucked it and it went directly into the pan! The potatoes came straight from our garden. Everything was absolutely delicious! β€οΈβ€οΈπŸ˜‹

Happy Sunday! Yesterday, as I was watering the garden, I saw a lot of carrot shoulders sticking up and decided to go ahead and pull the ones that needed it. I pulled about 1/4 of them and got another 7 pints canned. I'm up to 9 pints now! According to my calculations, I will need to plant twice as many next year to get enough to last us all year. We eat at least a pint a week. 😁 What are some of your favorite ways to fix carrots? We love them glazed with butter and brown sugar. β€οΈπŸ˜πŸ˜‹
Y'all go plant something!!

Did you know you can make your cookies taste like they just came out of the oven for multiple days? Here's the trick! Vacuum pack them in a mason jar. This is one of my favorite gadgets. I use it to keep my pasta, dry beans, and many other snacks fresh. Let me know if you'd like the link to get one. Y'all go make some cookies! ❀️

Yesterday, I canned two pints of carrots and two pints of green beans. They were the first harvests of each. The carrots were just a few I pulled that were next to the green beans. Their green tops were preventing me from seeing the green beans ready to harvest, so they had to come out. I will probably wait a couple more weeks to harvest more.
I am VERY happy with my switch in green beans this year. I have always planted Kentucky Wonders, but have been disappointed in the strings. This year I tried Blue Lake and they have ZERO strings! I'm sold! Y'all go plant something! ❀️❀️

When the neighbor asks if you'd like to trade some eggs for fresh blackberries...you betcha! Got two batches, or 12 half-pints, of jelly. Yummmm!!!! Y'all go make you some!

The second photo is the tomato shoot that I trimmed from the bottom of another tomato plant. You can get multiple tomato plants from just one. As you trim the bottom shoots, just remove the bottom leaves and stick it in the ground, deep and almost to the bottom leaves you've left. This one has been in the ground about 2.5 weeks and already has new branches and looking beautiful. I added it to my carrots since they are great companions. It won't be long and it will be taller than the carrots! Y'all go plant something! ❀️❀️

I had to replenish the pups Sweet Potato chews today. This is their favorite treat. I grow organic sweet potatoes, so I have a supply of them all year. I just wash and slice them to about 1/2 cm thick. Then, I dehydrate them at 135° F for 6 to 7 hours. They get stored in a baggie in the fridge and will last a couple of months...if they don't get eaten quicker. 😁❀️

I had my first harvest today! One Sunburst Patty Pan, one Moonbeam Patty Pan & one Gr***de Squash. We had the Moonbeam for dinner tonight. Yummmmo! Y'all go plant you some! It's not too late! I will be planting even more in about a month. 😊❀️

Good afternoon my friends!! I just wanted to give a garden update. Things are growing so well since we have received so much rain. I can see things growing each day! The Gr***de and Patty Pan squash will be ready to pick in a short time. The Cherokee Purple Tomatoes are covered in blooms. Potatoes are blooming. And, the carrots are THICK! If our nights will ever get out of the 50's, everything else will catch up. 😫 Show me your garden area! I love seeing how others grow their foods. ❀️
Y'all go plant something! It's not too late!

This year, I learned about the Three Sisters way of planting. I am a little late getting started, but I'm hoping it still works. It's the Native American way of planting. I have created hills and made a crater in the middle. Corn goes in the crater. After it comes up, I'll plant green beans on the sides of the hill, which will climb the corn for support. Then pumpkin or squash will be planted in the valleys to provide shade to keep moisture in and keep the soil cooler. I am planting pumpkin, since I already have a lot of squash planted in my raised beds. I'll keep you updated with the progress. It makes so much sense! I'll post a link in the comments that explains the process more in depth. Y'all go plant something! β€οΈπŸ…πŸ†πŸ₯•πŸŒ½πŸ₯”πŸŒΆπŸ«‘πŸ₯’πŸ₯¬πŸ₯¦
