I went to Trove Arts & Crafts for a sewing machine lesson with Dana and she taught me the proper way to sew stretchy fabrics. From the type of thread to use to the tension & stitch length settings … and most importantly of all, the correct stitch setting. I never knew what the Triple Zig Zag is until now!!

One of our Sewing Happy Hour projects last year was panties… the worst part was sectioning the elasticated waistband to make sure it gets distributed evenly. ☹️ And now I have to do it again for the ruffles on this shirt.

I know my quilter friends at sewing club use letter markers to separate their batches of squares, and we have stitch markers in crocheting; but is there a garment construction equivalent? Or do I just continue using sticky notes?

This has never happened before and will probably never happen again… I have PLENTY of fabric for this top!! 😮🤩 No need to piece bits together or supplement with scraps. I can cut each piece whole!

It’s September already!! And the start of my last craft show season. I’ll be at Piedmont Founders Day (Saturday September 12, 2026 from 9am - 4pm at Piedmont Baptist Church 15 Jackson Ave., Piedmont, OK 73078) with these final 2 scissortail pillows. 🪶 I always love how they turn out but they are a pain to sew with all the curves in the wings.

I still don’t understand how our thneeds will come together (poor Lacey has attempted to explain, visually and verbally, so many times but my tiny brain refuses to get it), but we made good progress 🧶 Whatever this thing is, it’ll be really pretty!!

We’ve also jumped on the Godzilla x Sanrio Happy Meal train. The trinkets must ALL be collected!! 🤣

Karen, Michaelene & Brandy are organizing a Christmas vest parade at this year’s sewing club holiday party. 🎄 We’ll start to make our vests at Sewing Happy Hour this week, Thursday August 27 from 6:30-9pm at Trove Arts & Crafts (7925 N Hudson Ave, OKC 73114)! Karen will have lots of vest panels to choose from. All supplies & instructions are on the panel. Being sequins, ribbon, and bits & bobs to add, the tackier the better!! 😂
