In honor of Halloween slasher movies, we slashed a few prices at our booth today! 😂

This trio of original 1969 anti-smoking posters made by the American Cancer Society are now $40 reduced from $50. The "sophisticated" one was already marked at $40 due to a scratch so it is now $32.

The large visible horse anatomical model kit is now $54 reduced from $60.

Happy Halloween! 🎃

Halloween is a fascinating and relatively recent holiday. Did you know the trick or treating element of the holiday did not start in the U.S. until 1939?

The holiday initially began in the U.S. as a desperate attempt to distract older kids and teens from destructive “tricks” (aka vandalism) that were common. The idea was to bribe them with costume parties and sweets, and it worked! 🥳

Tubi and Kanopy are two streaming services that offer tons of horror and spooky movies for free! Kanopy is provided by many libraries, including the Pioneer Library System and Metropolitan Library System that serve our local counties.

Do you associate owls with Halloween? 🎃

We have a few owls in our booth who would love to come haunt your home for Halloween (or anytime)!

Owls have long represented the holiday due to their nocturnal lifestyle, silent flight, and eerie-sounding calls. In some parts of the country this association may also be due to their increased visibility around Halloween. This is because owls eat mice and mice are exposed in the fields once the crops are harvested at this time of year 🦉

Throwback Thursday! Tomorrow is our 22nd wedding anniversary so we decided to share an old photo of us from our college days amidst our finds from a thrift haul! 😁

These were the pre-selfie days of film cameras so we actually set a timer on the camera which was sitting on the kitchen countertop, hence the odd angle!

Believe it or not, Fire King and Pyrex were unpopular and plentiful in thrift stores at the time! We personally preferred Fire King and were collecting it for our future household ❤️

Little did we know we should have bought ALL the Pyrex and saved it for 20 years! 😂

We loved going to antique stores even then but we never dreamed we would one day have a booth of our own! (or be married for 22 years) Here’s to memories and dreams come true!

Did you know this year is the 30th anniversary of Antiques Roadshow?! 😲

This is a favorite show in our household! We love seeing and learning about antique and vintage objects from all over the United States.

It can be an emotional roller coaster too, with people being surprised at the value of their items and others sharing sentimental stories of the provenance of their item 💜

PBS is sharing some of the original episodes on YouTube if you want to go back in time and witness history in the making! It is so fun to see the young versions of your favorite appraisers!

Check the comment for a link to one of the original episodes! The owner of the last piece appraised in the show has a touching story about how her antiquing hobby gave her a purpose and helped see her through her experience with cancer.
