Creating toys, decor, wearables, and more is just cool. You can put your stamp onto projects, lower your anxiety, and reduce waste in the world when you DIY. While choosing to learn crocheting or knitting, customers often ask, "Which is easier? If I want to learn both, which should I learn first?"
I do think crocheting is easier, especially for kiddos who are still fine-tuning their motor skills. However, if you want to learn both crafts, I suggest starting with knitting. Once you learn the "harder" one, it won't be as daunting to pick up crocheting. Knitting uses less yarn, so, if you want to save on materials cost in the long-term, go with that one.
If reading is really not your thing, then I suggest crocheting: it is easier to freestyle the projects (create without a pattern), though you can freestyle with any art form. (BTW: I'm pretty sure the green child's cardigan pictured here was freestyled back in 1955, and it's a gem.)
Knitting and crocheting are certainly not the only yarn crafts! Loom knitting, tunisian crochet, weaving, tatting, and more are all right here in our community - these are just the two I see most often.
