These small Zanzibar chests were used as cash boxes by shopkeepers in the bazaar in Zanzibar.

This vintage chest from Zanzibar was made from tropical hardwood and decorated with brass sheeting and brass domed head studs. It has an etched brass fastening hasp which attaches to a brass ring in the center, and there are brass carrying handles on each side of the box. The box which measures 7 ¼
