This is one of my favorite transformations. It took a lot of sweat equity but not a lot of money. I wasn’t able to remove the wallpaper so l primed over it with a special primer.

Then I added molding. A lot of molding!
But I used door casing instead of traditional decorative molding. So the molding for the entire hallway was only $250. But I did have to cut 60 boards! And I had to do 2 miter cuts on each of them.
Worth every bit of effort!

Don’t get hung up on using the
“correct” type of molding! I saved so much money making my own crown molding using door casing.

This economical solution for the island was so simple to install. I like it so much more than just a straight panel!
