We have done this type of treatment with the cornices covered with fabric or custom made out of hammered metal. They always look great in the room.

Individual Cornice Boards! Create an architectural illusion by installing individual cornice boards between your windows rather than over them. In this picture, coordinating stationary fabric panels were added as faux columns.

Styling tip: Try using a large-pattern fabric for your cornice board instead of creating sculpted edges.
