I love helping all of my clients, but sometimes I forget to let people know what all I can do and help them with.
Much of what designers do requires an artistic perperspective, a natural eye, but experiences, and education (whether higher, practical or both) play a part as well. However, the artistic eye can't be taught really.
As designers, we can and do create sample boards, drawings, rough sketches etc..... I have people I use to create animated, 3d works, and construction sets/drawings too if needed.
Aside from rough sketches, or simple drawings the rest add costs and some can be substantial so it doesn't necessarily always come up in initial conversations.
Most independent designers don't charge an arm and a leg for our services, but we work hard to get to where we are and we aren't free. I'm not just a fluff your stuff only service (though I can) and our vision and expertise are developed over time.
Much like an artist you may commission to create a piece of art, you are hiring an artistic person in hiring a designer to create your space.
Helping client's be able to visualize things for instance, appliances in different colors in their home is one such option.
A few others like changing how art is placed, updating lighting especially for common areas and aging eyes, furniture layouts, and discussing so many more options from the ground up are only parts and pieces of what I can help you with.
Whether you are building or remodeling a home needing help with selections or ideas or more, if you are wanting to retire soon and want ideas that will help you stay in your home longer, or even if an apartment is your home, all should reflect who you are and make you happy to walk into each and every day!
