This project would have been the most challenging restoration of my career if I hadn’t immediately followed up this job with a mirror restoration that only slightly surpassed its difficulty. This clock was originally made by a clockmaker from Manchester who lived between 1730 and 1762, named Philip Antrobus. Our local Women’s Club is the owner and is also responsible for funding its restoration. It’s currently on display at the Kerr Place in Onancock, VA. I was excited to see my work featured in Virginia Living, although I was not given adequate credit. According to the article, I only contributed under the supervision of Timothy Smith. They didn’t even give me credit for my photos when they included the article in a second issue. Oh well, I’m honored to be trusted with the case restoration of this beautiful clock. Mike Gould is responsible for restoring the clock face and works. Timothy Smith’s contribution mainly consists of picking up the clock and delivering it to my workshop.
