Pinch me! So thankful for these beautiful fall views outside my studio in Northwest Iowa.

Harvest is in full swing, leaves are coming down, and I’m squeezing in watering the mums between window treatment appointments.

Mine is usually some combination of coffee, water, my purse, install tools, samples, and whatever else I’ve collected throughout the day. It may not be pretty, but we are prepared!

The lake can take it from here!

The last shades are installed, everything is working exactly as it should, and now the best part: opening them up and enjoying that view.

Privacy and light control when you need it. A wide open lake view when you don’t.

The wrong measurements. A fabric that doesn’t hang quite right. Hardware that can’t handle the window. Shades that looked great online, but don’t actually solve the problem.

Custom window treatments aren’t about being fancy. Instead, they’re about making the right decisions the first time. Buying once it’s usually a whole lot cheaper than buying twice!

The luxury you didn’t know you needed: motorization.

Until you get used to opening and closing your shades with a push of a button. Then there’s really no going back. Especially for tall windows, hard to reach shades, or a whole room full of windows you’d rather not adjust one by one.

Some errands are significantly better than others!

Picking up my monthly bouquet from Jade Hubers is firmly at the top of that list.

No window treatment advice today. Just really pretty flowers and a little appreciation for the people making beautiful things right here in our corner of the world.

You chose giant windows for the view. This is how we keep the sun from running the room.

All that glass also means heat, glare, fading furniture and LOTS of afternoon sun.

The right window treatments let you keep the view AND control what’s coming through those windows. No need to choose!

At some point, “I’ll just do it myself” stops working.

After 25 years in business, I know how to work hard. But The Proper Place has been helping me figure out how to work better with clearer systems, more focus and more room for life outside of Panache.

I want to keep growing this business I love AND have time to enjoy the life I’ve built around it.
