1930s WPA museum extension program colonial America home scene diorama. The depression era Works Projects Administration financed model makers to create figures and dioramas to enhance the learning experience at local museums across the United States. Santa Ana’s Bowers museum benefited from this project immensely with a large number of these types of projects created mostly by Hispanic students at Santa Ana High School.
This particular diorama deaccessioned from Bowers Museum represents a Colonial American home about 1650-1690 “Pilgrim era”. The scene is highly detailed with figures, clothing, furniture, and all the amenities that would have been found in a house of the era. This item is for sale at the Antique Station, 178 S Glassell, Orange, Ca. 92866 open 7 days a week from 930am to 530pm. Hope to see you there!!!!!
