The name Bella Gioia means “Beautiful Joy” in Italian and was inspired by my grandmother who used to call all of her grandchildren her “gioia”.

Had the absolute BEST time vending at Milk Mart yesterday! Met so many great vendors, bought so many cool unique items. But the highlight was connecting with all the amazing people who came into our booth. Whether you bought something or just came in and talked to us, I appreciate you so much! We sold so many cool clothes and I can’t wait to see them out in the wild ❤️

And a big shoutout to my hubs n00bs41bot who made vending at this weekends market, only a week after my surgery, possible. Being so limited to what I can do physically, he made this possible (6th slide is just one example).

I hope to see you all at future Milk Marts!

Personality: Friendly, nosy & alarmingly well-informed.

Likes: Chardonnay, TJ Maxx, neighborhood gossip & saying, “I’m not judging, but…”

Dislikes: Being left out of the group chat & people who “bring drama.”

Darlene was asked to leave the neighborhood book club after everyone discovered she hadn’t read a single book in four years.

She still attends the Christmas party.

I’ve been pretty quiet around here lately, and now you know why. A breast cancer diagnosis, a whole lot of appointments, and surgery weren’t exactly part of my plans for this year.

I went back and forth about sharing this here because Bella Gioia has always been my creative, colorful, slightly chaotic little corner of the internet. But if sharing my experience reminds even one person to schedule the mammogram they’ve been putting off, it’s worth it.

Mine was found because I got checked.

So please make the appointment. Get the mammogram. And if something doesn’t seem right, get it checked.

I’m taking some time to recover now, but apparently my response to pre-surgery stress was to make an unreasonable number of ponchos. So I have plenty of things to show you while I’m temporarily benched from the sewing room.

And yes…spooky market season is still happening. I made sure there will be PLENTY of ponchos to choose from at my upcoming markets.

Bella Gioia isn’t going anywhere. I’m just taking a little time to recover 🩷
