Designing never sleeps, but don’t worry, we always answer our clients. Eventually. 😉

Between samples spread across the studio, floor plans open on the screen, lighting schedules being finalized, furniture pieces being sourced, and about 47 tiny details living rent-free in our brains, sometimes “sorry, kinda busy” really means “sorry, designing.”

The pretty final reveal may look effortless, but behind the scenes, there is a whole lot of creative chaos, problem solving, and very intentional decision making happening at all times.

Lighting is the jewelry of a home… except this jewelry also helps you see when you’re making coffee at 6am and trying not to ruin your life. 🤎☕️

I will never understand spending thousands on a beautiful space and then adding one sad b**b light from aisle 12. Lighting sets the mood, highlights the textures, creates dimension, and honestly? It can make or break a room.

A good fixture is doing double duty:
• functional enough to actually light the space
• beautiful enough to make people ask where it’s from

One of my favorite parts of every project is layering lighting because it completely changes how a home feels. Cozy corners, dramatic shadows, warm glows… yes please.

Moral of the story: don’t skimp on the thing everyone notices immediately. 👏

Let’s reintroduce myself 👋🏼

I’m Tera, the owner and principal designer behind Smith Interior Design. I’ve been in the design world for over 15 years, with the last 8 building a firm that’s rooted in thoughtful, timeless spaces that actually work for real life.

Outside of design, I’m a mom to two rowdy boys (send snacks and patience), and a proud firefighter wife of 10 years. Life is loud, busy, and a little chaotic… which is probably why I love creating homes that feel calm, grounded, and layered with intention.

Design-wise, give me all the natural textures and palettes inspired by the outdoors. Warm woods, imperfect stone, anything that feels collected instead of cookie-cutter. And if you put a unique slab in front of me… I’m sold. Immediately.

I specialize in new builds and full renovations because the magic is in the planning. When we’re involved early, every detail from traffic flow to lighting, actually makes sense. No band-aid fixes over here.

Hot take: if you’re investing in one piece for your home, most people will say sofa… I’m saying dining table or lighting. That’s where the real impact lives.

Also important: tequila drinks are my jam 🍸

Inspired by the elegance of the neighboring Four Seasons Resort Orlando at Walt Disney and infused with the whimsy of Disney’s signature magic, this home holds many unique surprises.

From hidden doors and a custom recreation of the iconic Disney Chinese Theater to a treehouse-inspired office space, each space tells a story.
