We have added a new style to our inventory of upcycled men’s shirts. This one is for the girly-girls! Double ruffles! We’ve cropped the bottom and added a gathered ruffle to the hem to go along with the ruffled collar. This shirt is not cropped so short so as to show skin. The bottom of the shirt just above the ruffles probably hits at the waist. I wore the first one I made the other day and it was very comfortable. $45.

Thanks to family donations, we have 15-20 shirts in various sizes available for you to pick out and have one custom made to fit you exactly right. Come in and take a look or if that’s not possible, just comment on this post and I’ll send you pictures. We do mail these out to our buyers. We are also working on two or three other styles including a hoodie that we’ll show soon.

With school starting again, both of us will be subbing again. We try to coordinate our schedules so someone can be at the store every day, but sometimes that’s just not possible. We will definitely be in the store on weekends. If you’re coming on a roadtrip it would be best to call ahead.

Just finished this special order hoodie made from a quilt with a peachy small print background. There are so many different prints from different time periods that make up the pinwheel pattern. We cut this one a little longer for better coverage. A pretty sky blue floral print is the perfect binding.

Now is a great time to order your coats and jackets before the weather gets chilly. You’ll be all ready for those autumn nights when they arrive

Open every weekday 10-4 and Sundays 12-4 at 635 Market,Osage City, KS. Come visit any time. We’d love to meet you.

This sweet jacket is off to a silent auction to benefit the Kansas State Fair. I hope lots of people bid on it to raise money for a good cause. Thank you to the donor who selected us to make this jacket. She also picked out the quilt and trim. If you look closely there is a brooch attached at the collar. Brooches are a hot trend right now and we have some good ones. Stop in and check them out. 635 Market, Osage City, KS. Hours weekdays 10-4 and Sunday 12-4.

We have ten 2-gallon bags of larger quilt scraps for sale at $20 each. Most of the bags have two or three different quilt remnants. There are definitely fabric pieces that are large enough for a pillow. Come in to browse or we can ship these to you.

I have run out of quilt scraps. And the workroom has a lot more space. I do still have 3-4 large bags of fabric scraps (leftover from making seam binding) but I may need those at some point.

Time to get back to making jackets and coats. And check back because we will have XXL men’s shirts that we’ve upcycled soon.

We just put up 42 gallons of quilt scraps! It was time. The workroom was messy and the three huge boxes of scraps were in everyone’s way. So now one box is sorted and available.

All these scraps are leftovers from the jackets and coats we’ve made. There are really old fabrics, vintage fabrics and some modern(ish) fabrics. There is some grain or feed sack fabric as well as shirting fabric.

If you are a crafter or seamstress (or sewist?) or artist or if you make books or bags or headbands or fabric beads, or just whatever, these scraps will make perfect embellishments. They are probably not big enough for pillows unless you make little tooth fairy pillows or any kind of mini pillows. Do you want to patch jeans or denim jackets? These scraps are perfect. I’m not familiar with cricket machines but I think you can make designs on them to cut out on these scraps.

Some bags are sourced from a single quilt; others contain samples from several quilts.

Each gallon bag is $10. Check with EBay or Etsy to see what a bargain that is. Come in and pick some out or we can send them to you if you help pay shipping costs.

Open every day 10-4 except Sunday 12-4. 635 Market, Osage City,KS.

Ps. Just saw a woman wearing a sweatshirt with a flag on it. The flag was made from red, white and blue quilt scraps. It was really exceptional!

Meadowlark’s version of the repurposed classic men’s button-down shirt made especially for women. All are $35. Sizes listed below picture. We will be happy to mail these to you for $5 more. If you see one you want, comment with “mine” and the first one to claim it will get it. We will DM you for your mailing address and payment options. If not paid within 4 hours of receipt of our invoice, we will skip to the next commenter. Or if you’re local, claim your shirt and come in to pick it up.

We have raided the closets of the men in our lives to bring these great shirts to you. Some are famous brands and others are not, but all are of excellent quality and will still be in your wardrobe years from now. The shirts are meant to be oversized and most are listed as men’s sizes.

As always, if you are not satisfied with your purchase, for any reason, we will work with you to make sure you love your Meadowlark shirt.

Don't look now, but four new businesses are set to open just on our side of the block in the next few months! We began this project hoping to help kick off a revitalization of downtown Osage City, and this is how it starts. How well it goes from here depends in large part on all of you.

So be sure to check out Horn & Ivory Books (opening in a week or so at 522 Market St.), the Tallgrass Beauty Co. hair salon (opening next month at 512 Market St.), Forty Barrels Coffee + Kitchen (opening this summer at 520 Market St.), and The 1883 Guesthouse (opening this summer at 522A-E Market St.).

These businesses will create about 30 jobs, fill three vacant storefronts in our downtown, and provide our community exciting new shopping and services that either don't exist now or are in short supply.

Meanwhile, other businesses on our block have been working hard to improve downtown, especially Osage Hardware and its beautiful garden area, and KB’s SpecialTees with all the improvements they're done to their building. Let's keep it going!

Here’s another Meadowlark coat/jacket made from a “Grandmother’s Flower Garden” quilt. The quilt pattern is classic but the artist chose yo add an unexpected pop of orange for the edges of the quilt. We used those edges for the front opening, the bottom hem, and the sleeve hems. We also used a coordinating fabric for the collar lining.

This coat is size large. I’m a shrinking 5’8” and on me it hits at the knee. The pattern runs big and the style is oversized so it probably will fit medium to x-large.

The quilt was lovingly used and there is a bit of wear but there no holes or stains.

We do ship and we also will make a custom coat or jacket for you. To get started send us a message via Facebook and we’ll take care if you completely stress-free!
