I took Saturday off to meet the kids and other family to celebrate two birthdays 🎂. Now it's back to work. First up (besides laundry) is to deal with the aftermath of finishing the feathers so I have room to actually create. As some of us say here in Minnesota-- Uff da.

So....Today has been a surprise. To be honest, I am still processing it.

But I can say my heart is filled with immense gratitude for you...all of you. Because you are the ones who helped me get to this moment in time.

The nine First Edition Water Feathers sold out in about 24 hours. I never expected anything close to that. Wow.

Thank You.

To those of you who were not able to get a feather and to those of you who want to collect all five styles of feathers in the Soar series, please know I have begun work on the nine First Editions of the next feather.

And...I am even more excited about this next design -- the color palette is going to be a little more striking and the subtle discoveries are going to go just a little deeper.

I will also do my very best not to take another two months to make them! ❤️ Betsy

There are moments in life when a feather appears exactly when it is needed.

Across many cultures, feathers have long symbolized guidance, direction, hope and connection to something larger than ourselves.

The Water Feather is the first release in my new limited-edition series, Soar. (You can find the link in the comments.)

Each feather in the Soar series represents a place or moment where one might discover a fallen feather. Over time, five feathers will complete the series.

Only nine First Edition Water feathers will ever exist, and no two are exactly alike. I individually handcrafted each feather from different combinations of reclaimed and new wood.

Each feather stands on its own as a work of art and contains quiet details waiting to be discovered by those who linger a little longer.

Because the best stories rarely reveal themselves all at once.

As you will soon see from an upcoming release, I believe in reusing when possible, because there's nothing better than a gorgeous piece of old wood or the perfect rusty bit to go into a collage.

You've heard of the Island of Misfit Toys? Well, Blue Waters Studio has the Sale of Misfit Art!

Betsy is a perfectionist and so she ends up with art she thinks is imperfect, yet often no one else notices. Those lucky enough to shop locally can snag a few misfits and discontinued art at steep discounts. Most are more than 50% off!

We are having this sale concurrently with an estate downsizing sale, so if you also like vintage and antiques, you will be doubly lucky.

I have a confession to make.

In elementary and junior high school I routinely wrote on desks.

I didn't cause any permanent harm. I didn't carve into desks, and I only used pencil. Usually I doodled. Other times I wrote commentary when I was (too-frequently) bored.

Getting caught and having to stay inside to wash desks during recess didn't deter me.

Good thing I wasn't cured of this habit! Today, I find it an extremely helpful skill. I routinely write to-do lists on my work tables so they are readily available and never lost like my notebooks tend to be.

This morning I drew pictures so the hubby could see how I want to design my new vendor booth.

When the tables get too grimy, I just tear off the cover paper and transfer any important information to either a notebook or back onto the table with its new paper covering.
