Dear Friends,
Most of you know by now that my husband, Story Waters, passed away unexpectedly on April 12th. As challenging as death is, it is also a creative force because of its ability to immediately shift perspective and realign personal priorities.
As such, it is with a sense of bitter-sweetness that I announce the immediate closing of the Owego Home Store Front which housed our retail operation.
First and foremost, I am OK. I love this community and feel immensely supported by it. And I am not planning on going anywhere.
I will continue to provide residential and commercial interior design services, but working with only 3 - 4 clients per year. I will also soon be launching an affordable, accessible virtual design option that many of you might want to consider.
But the most exciting news is that I will soon be launching a non-profit foundation in my late husband’s name: The Story Waters Foundation for Conscious Transformation.
Story was a celebrated author whose work focused on guiding people to a place of self-empowerment, conscious creativity, and inner-freedom. In addition to continuing to make Story’s vast library of work available to the public, the foundation will also cultivate a space designed for creative and personal transformation.
Here, writers, seekers, and communities can engage with Story’s writings, deepen personal freedom, and share their unique voices through writer and artist residencies, retreats, literary outreach, and community initiatives focused on awakening the limitless self.
Most of you know me as an artist and interior designer, but from 2012 - 2019 I ran the publishing company that produced Story’s books. I edited many of his books and also planned and led retreats, workshops, and seminars throughout the United States, Europe, and Asia based on the subject matter of the books. I also have a Master’s degree in Spiritual Counseling in the United Kingdom.
I feel that life has come full-circle for me at this pivotal time and focusing my time and energy in this way will be both a grieving and healing process for me personally, but will also benefit the community at large.
I love Owego, especially its loving community of residents and small business owners. Of all the places I have lived, Owego has been the place where I found my “tribe” the quickest and integrated into the community the easiest. For that reason, I want to stay and nurture the relationships I’ve established over the last two years.
While I bring this new vision to life, I will be looking for compassionate, heart-centered volunteers to help me along the way. I will be sharing more details in the weeks to come.
But for now, a heartfelt “Thank You” to all who have welcomed me with open arms, patronized my small business, and who I also know will now be cheering me along as I start this new and important chapter in my life.
With love and gratitude,
Roger
