I took a few hours on this beautiful day to be an Early Bird Shopper Michigan Antique & Collectible Festivals in Davisburg

I used this floral pillow as my “inspiration “ and pulled the colors out for the other pillows to create a coordinated, crated & cozy look

Love the floral pillow! I got it at Monarch Home Design in Waterford

Yes!! I finally got one whole space all decorated for Fall 🍂

My MIL gave me this settee…

I had big plans for it. I thrifted a vintage chenille bedspread for $7 to use to reupholster it.

(you might have noticed) I starting painting it black, changed my mind…

And threw the bedspread over it

It’s been in my alcove for awhile now, just like that.

It’s on my “some day” project list. 🙄

For now, it looks just fine, I think

I asked you guys a few days ago if you are working on any area of your house. I told you that I would share the ugly piles in my house. I am just doing it a few days later than promised.

Here is part of my living room. It is kind of an alcove off of the great room.

It is currently the least disastrous room in my house. I’ve been cleaning out my basement, and I've been bringing up bins and going through them, finding things I forgot I owned, and trying to figure out what I actually LOVE enough to keep.

If you are working on a space, start with the least overwhelming. Once you conquer that, it will give you the courage to go on...at least, that has always helped me.

I have a confession.

For more than 25 years, I could walk into the shop, move things around, layer in something/something, step back and know exactly what needed to happen next.

My own house? Apparently I left all those skills at work. 😂

Now that I'm finally thinking about our home and planning to give it the attention it hasn't gotten in YEARS, I'm realizing just how MUCH I've ignored my own house because I was always too busy working on the shop

I'm really enjoying figuring it out one thing at a time.

Not trying to make it perfect. Not trying to make it look like somebody else's house, not trendy.

Just trying to make it feel like us (really ME, Howard couldn't give a rip as long as he can see the TV and has a bed to sleep in)

Anybody else have a room, corner, closet, project, or random pile of stuff that's been patiently waiting for you to deal with it? 💜
