Completely mesmerized by this stunning Villa D'Oro Granada mosaic from Walker Zanger. By blending traditional Moorish architecture with contemporary scale, it elevates a simple wall into an intricate work of art.

It’s amazing what you can make with a second hand frame, wrapping paper, and a few wood flowers! Tasked with decorating a VIP Room for the Monterey Museum of Art' Flora and Fauna spring fundraiser, I dived deep into my roots of craft making. It was fun to stay up late at night again like I did in art school working on my projects. For one night, the blank white room was transformed into a medley of fantastical flowers.

The first time I set eyes on a Fisher Weisman chandelier was in San Miguel De Allende. I was immediately enamored with the row upon row of exquisite gold leaf feathers dangling in the air above me. One of my dear clients was enamored, too. It was with delight and much deliberation that we chose from the many beauties and found the perfect piece to grace her dining room.

When was the first time I was exposed to the beauty of Chihuly glass? Was it the exhibition in San Francisco years ago or the Seattle Museum of Art while my daughter and I were on college tours? it must have been before then.

In my residential interior design class, we were tasked with designing a home and workspace for a celebrity. Hands down, no question, I chose Chihuly. Was it his rogue way of working, his love of hard rock or how he thrives on chaos that attracted me? Whatever the case, I studied his life and personality which informed my design. Remembering his love of Bruce Springsteen, I blasted “Born in the USA” during my design presentation…a bit of rogue seeping out from under my quiet ways.

While visiting the Berkshires with college girlfriends, we stumbled upon the expansive and beautiful botanical gardens in Stockbridge. Meandering on the winding garden paths, we made our way through peonies the size of a dinner plate, succulents spilling over an old rusty wagon, and furniture topiary.

We finished with the incredible exhibition of Francis Palmer’s terracotta delights. Oh my! Besotted at first sight… such beauty in the raw material, whimsy and elegance all wrapped in each vessel. My friends had to pry me away.
