You know me, and that I'm always trying to find ways to utilize the byproducts of my woodshop. I make sculpture art with remnants, heat the hot tub with scrap wood, and mulch and build soil with sawdust. This though is my favorite use so far with the bags of it that I accumulate: gorgeous, delicious oyster mushrooms 😊 Hit me up if anyone wants to try it out. I've got no shortage of premium Hawaiian hardwood sawdust for friends and neighbors. Come get some!

We make so much in our shop, going through hundreds of board feet of lumber, we generate a substantial amount of scrap wood. I would never throw anything usable away, and I can't think of a better use of it than producing large art sculptures.

While I was cutting bevels on some Martin& MacArthur frames and listening to my current audiobook (The Autobiography of Kathryn Janeway), I looked up to see Lillie and Kait in their own flows, expertly focused on their work. I snapped a candid shot of what it looks while we're in it making sawdust. I'm really fortunate to work alongside such gifted woodworkers.

Lately we just wrapped an order of one large and several smaller walnut frames that we shipped to Cincinnati for a customer there. After building a crate of lightweight plywood, we layered expanding foam between sheets of painters plastic to secure everything snuggly. UPS handled the rest.

The green anole is also called the Carolina anole, American anole and red-throated anole. This lizard is native to the southeastern United States. It was first discovered on Oahu in 1950 and is now common throughout the Hawaiian Islands. Green anoles can change color from bright green to brown, yellow, or an unremarkable beige. They change color based on internal and external factors like mood, health, temperature, social media exposure, and humidity. This one here is pictured on a slab of milo wood and is named Lester.

One of my customers asked if I could make them a Hawaiian leiomano spear. I said sure, why not. This commission involved koa, mango, and ohia woods, and a dozen mako shark teeth. Its shape is inspired by several historical examples attached to Kamehameha. It's yet to be decorated with rooster feathers.
