Ooff, I thought I we would be posting a ‘we’re moving” post but instead, it’s a we’re closing…
Le Marché was my first vision. My first go at the boutique world. And man, am I proud of what it was. I created the most beautiful store I’ve personally ever been in. And people love it. Truly love it.
From the lighting, to the displays, the paint and wallpaper, the furniture and of course the unique and beautiful merchandise….it was everything.
But there were also a lot of downsides to this space.
I opened up next to a martial arts studio… and boy… I did not realize exactly how loud that would be. It was day three of having the keys. I was sitting in this big open empty space and the class started. I immediately took a video and sent to the landlords like “oh my gosh what is this?!?” And really for all this time I just dealt with it. Documenting it as we went. It was so loud that at times things would fall off the shelves, it was disruptive and not really conducive to the environment we were creating. It definitely put a damper on the space from the very beginning.
I also thought I opened in a really visible and convenient area for people. Only to hear “wow, I had no idea you were here”, “you’re really tucked in back here, or the daily “You should be in Downtown Dunedin, Safety Harbor or Tampa.” 🤪
I opened the Dunedin store just to see if it would be any different… And wow..I gotta say: location really does matter. 🥴 The store in Dunedin is a fourth of the size, a fourth of the overhead and sells a lot more overall.
Having 3 stores (Le Marché, Salt & Linen and Crema) with different aesthetic that I merchandise for is a very time-consuming part of the job. Fun… No doubt, but it does take a lot of mental and physical energy, which at this time when my kids are in very busy stages of their lives, I feel isn’t fair and that I should simplify- And ultimately focus on the store that makes the most sense.
A part of me thinks that maybe this isn’t the end of the brand entirely, I keep thinking that I could open this concept somewhere else someday, but right now I just feel excited to focus on Salt and Linen and Crema and grow that brand.
With all that said….
I gotta clear out 3500 square feet of inventory. Which holy moly I’ve been gone for nine days and we ran a 30% off sale and this place feels so empty. But there’s a lot more to go… including the furniture.
We have a lot of furniture that is for sale. People have wanted the couches since I opened- and the tables… And of course all the hutches I restored with hardware, paint and wallpaper. Those are available too first come first serve!
I would love to sell as much inventory as possible before we move completely to Dunedin.
For the next 4 weeks, we will have a closing sale. For now everything is 30% off.
I hope to see you here and thank you so much for all of your love and support since opening!
