📚 Somerset Schoolhouse Book Club – July 2026 📚

Join us on Sunday, July 12, 2026, at 1:00 PM as we gather to discuss our July Book Club selection, The Indigo Girl by Natasha Boyd.

This captivating historical novel tells the remarkable story behind one of America’s most valuable colonial crops and the courageous young woman who helped shape its future. Whether you’re a longtime member or joining us for the first time, we invite you to be part of an engaging afternoon of conversation, community, and great literature.

🍸 Book Club Cocktail of the Month: The Indigo French 75 & French 76

To complement this month’s indigo-inspired read, we’ll be featuring our signature Indigo French 75 and French 76 cocktails.

These beautiful beverages begin with a butterfly pea flower infusion, created by steeping the dried blossoms in gin or vodka. The result is a naturally vibrant indigo spirit that transforms into stunning shades of blue and purple when mixed with acidic ingredients such as fresh citrus juice—or even a splash of champagne. 🍾

The science behind this magical color change comes from anthocyanins, natural plant pigments also found in red cabbage, blueberries, and other richly colored fruits and vegetables. These pigments are highly sensitive to changes in pH, creating the dramatic color transformation that makes these cocktails as fascinating as they are delicious.

Join us tonight at the Somerset Schoolhouse for an exciting Trivia Night on the patio from 5:00–7:00 PM! This evening’s theme is Cocktails & Cars, and we’ll have prizes for our top trivia teams.

We’re also proud to be raising funds for Shifting Gears for Regan, supporting local children’s mental health awareness. Donations will be accepted throughout the event, and we’re featuring a special Lavender Lemonade as our drink of the day. Enjoy it as a refreshing mocktail or add your favorite spirit—either way, proceeds from every Lavender Lemonade sold will benefit this important cause.

Gather your friends, test your knowledge, and help us support a meaningful mission in our community. We look forward to seeing you tonight for a fun evening of trivia, great drinks, and giving back!

Women’s Night at the Somerset Schoolhouse was a wonderful success! Our “Moo Moos & Martinis” Mrs. Roper-inspired party this past Thursday evening was filled with laughter, creativity, and celebration.

Guests enjoyed a sold-out martini glass painting class led by Suzanne Southerland of Just Around the Corner Studio. While sipping handcrafted martinis, attendees created their own beautifully hand-painted martini glasses, making for a fun and memorable evening. Thank you to all of the talented and creative women who joined us and made the night so special.

Our featured cocktail for the evening was a signature purple gimlet made with Empress 1908 Indigo Gin, fresh lime juice, simple syrup, and a touch of egg white foam. The cocktail offered bright citrus notes balanced with subtle herbal flavors and a hint of warm spice — a refreshing drink reminiscent of key lime pie.

We were also honored to showcase several incredible local women-owned businesses, including Spartina 449, Radiant Med Spa, Massages by Sunny, handcrafted crochet creations featuring hats, bags, and stuffed animals, and Ruffled Feathers Beaded Gemstone Jewelry.

The evening was a beautiful celebration of women supporting women, local businesses, friendship, creativity, and community. Thank you to everyone who attended — we look forward to the next Women’s Night at the Somerset Schoolhouse!

Our next book club selection is Theo of Golden by Allen Levi — a heartwarming and thoughtful story that beautifully explores community, friendship, and the meaning of home.

Join us on Sunday, June 7, 2026, at 1:00PM at the Somerset Schoolhouse for an afternoon of engaging conversation, community, and classic charm.

To complement this month’s selection, we’ll also be featuring our new Spring Fling Martini as our signature book club cocktail. Crafted with gin, this refreshing seasonal drink includes our house-made plum simple syrup, pomegranate, lemon, and elderflower liqueur — the perfect pairing for a relaxing afternoon of book discussion on the patio.

We look forward to gathering together, sharing perspectives, and enjoying another memorable afternoon with fellow readers.

What a memorable day at the Somerset Schoolhouse’s Kentucky Derby Party! 🏇✨

Guests enjoyed an unforgettable afternoon filled with a life-size Derby Dash games, refreshing mint juleps, great company, and plenty of cheering for the winning horse. A special thank-you to the best DJ jockey in town for keeping the energy high and the celebration going all day long!

What a wonderful afternoon celebrating the Kentucky Derby at the Somerset Schoolhouse! 🌹✨

Our Kentucky Derby Hat Decorating Class was filled with creativity, laughter, and beautiful designs. From classic red roses to vibrant spring florals, each guest created a hat that was uniquely their own — and every single one was stunning.

Guests enjoyed cocktails and mint juleps while spending the afternoon crafting, socializing, and embracing the spirit of Derby season. This class was such a fun addition to our celebration, and we are excited to make it a recurring tradition at future Kentucky Derby parties.
