Join Stephanie Halligan Cobb a Deer Park ISD Auditory Impairment Teacher for a $15 6-week beginners & intermediate sign language (ASL) course that begins October 15. Classes will be held on Tuesdays at the Community Center beginners will be held at 6pm and advanced learners will register for the 7pm class. ASL is a visual gestural language. That means it is a language that is expressed through the hands and face and is perceived through the eyes. A “visual gestural” language carries just as much information as any spoken language and it takes time and effort to become a “skilled signer.” But you have to start somewhere if you are going to get anywhere--so dive in and enjoy.
