I got asked to try out these lights from GT-Lite LED in my shop. These are the 2ft x 4ft led lights. They truly are unique as the brightness is adjustable and so is the color of light easily with a flick of a switch. Mounting them was easy with the included bracket on my ceiling (I did have to do some tiny modification for the armored cable to run to the light). They can also be mounted in a recessed ceiling system as well. I’d highly recommend them if you are looking for shop lights.

The walnut sunburst dining table was delivered yesterday and just fits right in with the whole style of the room. What do you all think??

I want to thank Matt for helping the whole way through on this build. We sure did learn a lot and are excited about the next veneered table to do. And I want to thank Gary for lending us a hand moving this beast of a table and lending his trailer to get it to the final resting place.

The quartered veneer came from Certainly Woods upstate NY

The walnut lumber for the border and reeds came from Roberts Plywood

The wood finish came from Sutherland Wells which is based out of Rhode Island (excellent company to work with by the way)

Have you ever wanted to see the process of taking a log and turning it into a piece of furniture? Well this weekend my good friend Justin will be teaching everyone that process and you will be going home with this shaker style stool. You will get to use shave horses, spokeshaves, weave a seat, and learn the joinery that makes green wood furniture so unique and strong.

What is one of those tools in your shop that you never realized how useful it is until you got it?

Well for me it’s the Shaper Shaper Origin. If you remember a few years back I did a room divider panel. Well that job paid for this tool and since has been paid for itself multiple times. It’s so much fun having a handheld cnc machine. I use it often for inlays like I’m doing here for a 4” diameter ceramic coaster in this redwood slab countertop. It’s also great for precise joinery, making any size template, hinge holes, engraving. If you don’t have one, you should if you do custom woodwork. It may not be used everyday, but when it’s needed it completes the task perfectly!

One of my new favorite machines in the shop is this .america hinge boring machine. No more days using the old sloppy drill press and homemade fence. This machine is a dream to use and so well made in Italy. And I can’t tell you the deal I got on this machine. It’s too good to be true and that’s why I love working with .
