There are many variations when it comes to glass railings. You can have one as shown here, which consists of clamps mounted to the deck surface, 1/2” tempered glass, and a minimal top rail. A step below (cost-wise) would be tempered glass held in place by clamps that are attached to wooden deck posts (in that case, panes of glass would replace standard wooden balusters between posts). The top level? A “shoe” system with a minimal profile, using a special type of tempered laminated glass with a structural interlayer, which eliminates the need for a top rail (in most cases - check your local building code) - giving you an unobstructed view.
