Another “Essence” (aka “Messina”) sliding shower enclosure - this time, with a 90 degree return on a buttress. This headerless slider has been especially popular with our clients lately. When it comes to shower enclosures, the simplest design is often the most visually appealing. One of our longtime clients wanted a shower that would be fully accessible for either a walker or wheelchair (thinking ahead for the future), while going along with the frameless/headerless aesthetic that we’ve provided throughout the rest of the property. After tossing around a few options, we went with this “French door” style. The height/width of each door required three hinges per door instead of the standard two, which required some extra labor, but it was more than worth it in the end.

Figuring out the layout/installation for this TEN FOOT TALL steam shower enclosure was no easy feat - especially considering the jagged stone tile that was used, and the fact that the bathroom is very narrow and taller than it is deep (which necessitated a change of course from our original plans) - but we worked it out!

There are many variations when it comes to glass railings. You can have one as shown here, which consists of clamps mounted to the deck surface, 1/2” tempered glass, and a minimal top rail. A step below (cost-wise) would be tempered glass held in place by clamps that are attached to wooden deck posts (in that case, panes of glass would replace standard wooden balusters between posts). The top level? A “shoe” system with a minimal profile, using a special type of tempered laminated glass with a structural interlayer, which eliminates the need for a top rail (in most cases - check your local building code) - giving you an unobstructed view.

We’re selling off a number of ThermaTru doors as we attempt to streamline our showroom - these are standard 3’0” x 6’8” entry doors in impeccable condition (like-new, never exposed to the elements). They are door “blanks,” ie there are no pre-drilled holes for hinges / handles / locks, so they can be customized to hang on either the left or right. $600 firm (retail cost is upwards of $2000) - call (845)878-9396 or stop by during business hours if interested.
