Flower to Table seasonal & locally gathered floral

Last week was all about the silver. Found lots of silver plated pieces that include a ch*****ne urn, ice bucket with insert and top, trays, grapefruit spoons, punch bowl, soap dish, and lots of minis. There are a few other things like a brass bowl candelabra, copper wall planter, several wood frames, and as always, I found some china.

I’ll have lots of work ahead of me getting these pieces all shined up and ready to sell!

Chestnut time!

We have three large chestnut trees Casa de Suenos and every year we love when fall arrives because it means it’s time to harvest. Our deer love them too, well, all the animals love them, but the deer especially. They don’t mind us looking for nuts with them. We have momma deer and two babies that hang out with us. It’s so fun.

We sell locally by the pound.
What we don’t sell, we make lots of things with them.
You can eat them raw, boil, roast, can, and bake. This year I’m making Marron Glacé. It’s a 5 day process, not hard at all, but takes awhile before you can enjoy them.

Not many people know what a chestnut tree looks like let alone their spikey outer shell. Then you have the dark glossy shell protecting the actual nut. They are sweet and delicious. I will just eat a few raw while I’m harvesting but I do like them boiled too.

Finally I can feel the fall season approaching! Just wanted to show you what I’m up to today.

As always I am curating tablescape collections with china in fall colors, serving pieces, silverware, glassware, and unexpected antique pieces. And because the morning was so beautiful and cool, for a change, I was out harvesting some Goldenrod to dry.

*I’m a collector and seller of antiques and vintage things. You may see me at some local shows and markets, but right now I’m in my “living the dream” phase where I work on my home renovations, work on my overgrown garden, occasionally buy more china and antiques, and take time for afternoon tea with homemade Scottish style scones. But, if you ever see anything I’ve posted that you are interested in purchasing you can always DM me and inquire.

I went on a couple of picking trips this last week and ended up buying more china! Surprised? The only thing surprising to me was that I was drawn to everything blue and white.

A few things stand out to me with this collection. First, the divided plate is Booths British Scenery. I found only one and now must have more. Second, there are four dinner plates that say, Lochs of Scotland, with a castle and unicorn stamp on the back. I just returned from Scotland, so finding these were a bonus! Lastly, I fell in love with the book print of sparrows. The greens, blues, and browns are so calming and muted. It’s just the most beautiful print.

I have the most fun on quiet picking trips. I don’t like going to estate sales or auctions anymore. I find the chaos of all the people trying to grab the same things, the rushing to get to things first, the super early morning to be first in line, and the long days of auction that may lead to only taking home a couple of the items that I wanted super stressful and frankly not any fun! Don’t get me wrong, I still do them occasionally, but it’s a process to get this introvert motivated!

As you can see, by this post and past posts on here and on my other pages Mikiala Tucker and Casa de Suenos that I don’t have a problem finding great things. Keep following me for more!

It’s been a minute since I’ve posted anything. I’ve been on vacation, moving my son into his first apartment, and getting back into daily routines.
My garden is a hot mess but within it are some pretty beautiful flowers. Lots of lovely things to make fresh arrangements and bouquets. ✨
