Greetings everyone,
We just finished a build and install I wanted to share. This was a unique and fun build and we have to thank Jeff Perales at Kobalt Bar in Phoenix for the opportunity to design and build a new addition to his show lounge. Jeff and I met about this and he has a specific vision to bring the look of stages you see on popular tv to his live performance venue using some sort of wall panels and incorporating some light source. We tried several ideas and could not come up with what he wanted at first. Then if you know me well, I will go to some extremes to nail the vision for our clients. So, I decided why dont we build this from scratch! And we did just that. We had a pallet of plaster powder delivered to our shop and then found a mold that Jeff approved of and had the molds flown in from Poland. We then started making panels and i believe ended up with 70 total.
The panels, which had to meet certain thickness and density to be modified after hardening, turned out amazing. We then had the task of taking each and every panel and laying them out adhering them to a backboard and painstakingly using a combo of drywall mud and plaster to mold each panel together so they joined as one gigantic single panel on the wall Kobalt. Finally, every panel received a DMX encoder-driven LED fixture able to produce infinite color pallets. Once completed and installed, programming took place to make this wall come alive with color combos adding to the existing light system as yet another element to the growing lighting system we put in a year ago. With the help of Daslight Lighting control software, we built a wide assortment of lighting cues for stage performances.
When looking at recent videos on Kobalt's page you can see what an improvement this had made on the backdrop during performances. It truly raises the bar for Phoenix drag shows, comedy acts, and other live performances performed on their stage. Thanks, Jeff for allowing us to be a part of your vision.
