We’d like to welcome Rivermede Farm to our family of retailers!!!

You can find these Adirondack-themed keepsake magnets as well as our Woodland Friends craft kits in their market! Our laser-cut pieces make a great addition to their baked goods, produce and other Adirondack specialty items.

Tomorrow we’ll be local!!! 🤩🎉

Visit us on the Village Green in Jay for a gorgeous day of fun & festivities.

We’ll have our Reusable Water Balloons for the last time this year. There’s still more summer, but we’ll be prepping for fall & the holidays. Last chance to get some wet & wild summer fun from us!!!

All dressed and ready for the bazaar!!!

The antique quilt from the early 1900’s that could no longer be used as a quilt, has been given new life as 2 framed pieces and a handful of pocket prayer quilts.

There are a few more scraps to be transformed, but these give great examples for someone else. We also have 2 more quilts ready to be transformed! Anyone interested???

It’s finished! What do you think??? I’m loving the look and the way we were able to salvage a bit of an antique quilt and create a rustic decor piece.

The window frame is 29”x28” and comes complete with a finished backing. Ready to hang in a sweet nook or bedroom. The blue & (off) white Irish Chain quilt design is centered for a sense of balance and peace.

A bit of early 1900’s handicrafts meets with vintage architectural salvage to create a stunning piece of nostalgia.

Tell me, what price do you think I should put on this beauty? 🤔 Tomorrow it goes off to the church bazaar to find its new home.

Continuing the project:

Cutting the antique quilt was a little scary! 😱 But it was so loved and used over the years that the remaining parts wouldn’t be good for much more than framing.

After stapling down the batting & fabric layer to protect the 100+ yr old quilt, I chose the best (in my opinion) view of the quilt and tacked it to the window frame. There were other plans, but this was simplest and effective.

We finished with tacking the backing to the window frame and adding a couple of eyes and picture wire.

Ready for the reveal???

Want to come along as I repurpose an antique quilt (beyond being used as a quilt) and a vintage wood window?!?

I’ll walk you through my process in case you have some of these laying around in your stash. 😉

First, find a decent window and an old quilt. Set them together to see if you like the combo.

Clean the window frame and test for lead paint. This one tested positive, so we chose to shellac it to seal in the paint since it will only be used as decor.

Then, I chose to cut a backing out of some plywood and shellacked the back to give a finished appearance. This got a layer of quilt batting and a layer of cotton fabric upholstering it to provide a background for the antique quilt. I used a white fabric, but since it won’t be seen, it won’t really matter.

The Forest Floor quilt is finished and ready for its new home! Could it be yours??? YES!

The colors and critters are a gorgeous reflection of life in the Adirondacks and would be at home in any cabin or restful room. A friend assembled the Rachel Hauer fabric line into this striking top and I was honored to have stitched the Royal Fern design across the entire piece. A group of friends helped to bind the quilt to finish it for the maker who had moved out of the area. This quilt is truly a work of love and friendship.

The 63”x63” quilt will be displayed at the Keene Valley Congregational Church’s annual bazaar and quilt sale this Friday & Saturday (8/7-8/8). It’s sure to sell quickly, so if it tugs on your heart and you’d like more info, message me for pricing and additional details.
