In the early 90s we met Oumar Cissé “Peace Corps Baba” who would come from Bamako to Dakar when we lived in Sénégal. We bought many trade beads from him back in the day.
Then he started his business Farafinatignè in Sevare next to Mopti in central Mali, regrouping many artisans with different specialities.
He visited us often in Pittsboro while doing some shows in the U.S. but we lost our friend in 2021.
His son Issouf took over the business and continues the tradition, here is a comparison picture of his dad in 2018…
He is at the shop through Sunday, come and buy some of his jewelry!
