Welcome to Amari Fiber Art Studio!!! This is a something I've been working on for a while now and today I'm finally ready to share it with you. This has been a nerve-racking experience to say the least. There have been up and downs along the way, but I'm just so excited to get this business up and running.
This journey started months ago when I was looking for an art piece for my living room. That's when I stumbled upon the wonderful world of macrame/yarn wall hangings. I found the perfect piece and was about to click buy when I was saw the price tag and my jaw hit the floor. The piece I wanted was a whopping 400 dollars. Needless to say that was way beyond my budget. So at that moment I decided I'd just make my own, and that is exactly what I did. To be to be honest it turned out exactly as the one I was going to buy, but for cheaper, like way cheaper. It was perfect for the space and even more perfect for my bank account.
Fast forward two months ago when I was going through a bit of a existential crisis, I was questioning my purpose in life, my next step, and just feeling sorry for myself. It was at this time that my husband suggested I start making and selling macrame wall hangings. At first I laughed it off like it was some crazy idea. I didn't think I was that good but my husband kept insisting and insisting that I was in fact capable of doing it. So I started to believe this could actually work and decided what's the harm in trying. I told myself if it didn't work out at least I would have more decor to hang up at home. Unfortunately that's when the imposter syndrome reared it's ugly head. I was completely new to this and compared to other ladies doing the same thing I just felt unworthy, untalented and a complete joke. Still I persisted despite basically wanting to quit every single day, but I'd always get up the next morning and try again and try and fail, and try and fail and try and fail and so on and so forth. Slowly but surely I started to learn new ways and method to make these wall hangings. Disclaimer I'm still learning and I will be for a while, however I'm committed to providing good quality home decor at a price that wouldn't break the bank.
I named my store Amari Fiber Art Studio because in my mothers tongue Amari means love, and that is what goes into every piece I make. It takes time, hard work, and a whole lot of love. No matter how frustrating it can get I love what I'm doing. I never thought I, Charlene could make a living doing what I love yet alone have my own business, but it's what I'm doing and I love it. I hope you join, help, share and support this business of mine because it's truly a dream come true.
P.S. I will be posting pieces for sale today or tomorrow, and more after that. I can also make custom pieces if you have any color/size requests.
