A few days ago, I posted images of outdoor furniture cushions and pillows. Let's take a closer look at the details that contributed to the polished finished look. Firstly, the pattern matching on the bench seat cushions was a meticulous process. While it was indeed tedious and time-consuming, the outcome was justified. Additionally, the tape trim on the pillows makes a perfect pattern repeat when the ends meet at the seam. Did you prefer the orange side or the yellow side?

I just completed working with a wonderful client who believes in collaboration and embracing color. The pillows feature layered trims and are reversible, and the small bench cushions' welting matches the chair seat cushions precisely. Delivery happened between rain showers last week, so dressing the table wasn't an option. This client is very disciplined, storing all patio cushions in the garage when not in use.

A bespoke down-filled cushion was requested with specific requirements: 2-inch maximum height, contrast welt, tufted construction, and utilization of scrap fabric. Circa 1920 and a childhood bed frame. Designing the bedding for this job was a true collaboration that included many conversations with the client. We used a different approach to placing the bedskirt drops because the wooden side rails attached to the foot board. Working with vintage furniture can require a different approach but it’s thought and care, beautiful things can be achieved.

Attention to the smallest details has a huge impact. Equal distance between each pleat, a pleat placed at the end of the rod where it butts up to the adjacent wall, proper hardware selection so the drapery is not bunched when the shutter slat is open and each pleat is straight.

Life required that I take a break and reset because of a series of retinal surgeries. I'm now ten days post-last surgery and the recovery is on track. As I return to accepting clients, there will be a focus on discerning clients who appreciate communication, collaboration, and planning for custom work. I'm very fortunate to have clients who said 'we will wait for you,' and I plan to highlight some of the custom details from each of those jobs in upcoming posts. To kick things off, these fabrics will be part of a bedroom update in El Paso. Fun and vibrant. Now scheduling appointments for work that will be delivered in July.
