Allow me to introduce myself!
Hello! Welcome to my Art Studio~ a lot of new friends recently due to me launching the Adult DIY Workshops and Kids Art Parties for the WESTSIDE! Where the party comes to you!
For those of you who don’t know me - My name is Christa Ganaway and I am a professional artist from Chicago. Yep, you heard that right...Chicago! I know.. I know.. how in the world did I end up in Plaquemine? It’s okay- I get that question ALL. THE. TIME. Well fate and divine intervention, unbeknownst to me. I was working as an assistant Interior Designer at a high-end Architectural and Interior design firm in Chicago but I had studied Set Decoration for Films at Columbia College Chicago. Well after a few years at the firm I decided to move to Louisiana, because of the growing industry here, at the time, 9 years ago. To pursue my career in film. I know the Stevens family and was offered a job to help open Orleans on The Avenue, which was located on Railroad Avenue, as a way to get my feet on the ground here. I worked as the Bar Manager for a few months before moving to New Orleans. Well that’s when my life changed. Before I moved I started dating my now husband whom I’d met at the restaurant and it wasn’t long before I moved back to Plaquemine to build a life with him~ and the rest is history as they say.
While I have been a freelance designer for interiors for over 5 years, I have never once advertised it. The first independent design gig I landed was in Baton Rouge to help a client renovate her home and from there all of my clients have been word of mouth- BUT all in the Baton Rouge area on the OTHER side of the river- and I was ready for that to change. My passion for design, art and home decor have recently all been combined and I started fabricating my own line of home decor made from wood. And I’ve decided to take my craft on the road and into your home or rented space!
I want to serve my community and bring my services to our side of the Mississippi River. That’s why I started offering the Workshops and Art Parties!
