Why we wear Hand, Eye, and Face Protection when handling Clock Mainsprings. This is a new high quality German Mainspring, but the loop rivet and wire retainer failed while I was in process of attaching it to the winding arbor. That 108” long piece of spring steel gave no warning it was about to suddenly uncoil.

So I needed to fill the space where my Cuckoo Clock had hung, after I gifted it to family. I bought this Dutch Zaanse wall clock. Guess who made the movement? HERMLE, a very popular German manufacturer. It seems I have a number of clocks from Grandfather to bracket mantel clocks that have Hermle movements. Listen to it long enough to hear it strike the hour.

A version of 1930s Sound of Time. I love the steady ticking of this small and unique time machine. It reminds me of a diesel engine.

A couple of special clocks came in this week. A Lux Rotary Clock, (aka Tape Measure Clock); and a Bayard French Carriage Clock with movement by Duverdrey & Bloquel.
