The advancements in sustainability are always changing so doing research and educating myself is an important part of what I do as a sustainable designer. Last week I attended a webinar on the embodied carbon of furniture and was introduced to a new eco-friendly upholstery line that is both biodegradable and durable. Many of their upholstery fabrics are GOTS certified, which is the highest standard available for textiles. It was also great to learn that by using an existing furniture piece you can reduce the carbon footprint by up to 80%! At harmony interiors we are huge fans of incorporating previously owned pieces and remaking them into something our clients will love, like this fun, colorful sofa.
