Just finished this lap board, 12 by 24 inches. Larger than I usually make it but I had some long pieces and tried something new.
Bright shiny wood in the middle is canary wood, otherwise the different woods are--black walnut, hackberry (light colored) ambrosia maple (with worm tracks), red cedar, and 2 oak.
Message me if interested, free shipping BUT it'll be $100. Clip added to make it a clip board if you want.

Nearly 200 year old slice of pie, a black ash cut to show all the growth rings. Slow growing tree, and rings counted using a lighted magnifying device.

Working a a new way to cut names. Used to make them about an inch or two high, smaller versions for a bedroom shelf. Now I tried cutting the larger, about 4 inches, from a single piece of wood.
Any size from short name to long name or long last name. $10 to 20 in most cases. This one would be about ten plus shipping.

I've been cutting a variety of wood into hearts. Upper left, black ash with the unusual variety of grain pattern, upper r, black ash sliced across, and lower, catalpa with the distinct centers.
By carefully counting the rings on the black ash upper right using a magnifier and light, I found that the rings date back to about 1825. NO joke, and I'll try it again in a different part of it. Some of the rings are so thin, almost like looking at the edge of a book and the pages being like the rings.
Wood. Ain't it amazing.

Working with lilac slices, just cut them today. One set is the lilac pieces alone and the other one shows them after they've been spread with mineral oil and a couple other enhancements.(bottom pic)

The aroma is wonderful, but subtle. Trying to figure out how to "capture" that and get it to people, maybe cutting in small pieces and bagging it?

Been working on cat woodworks like this. Smaller ones like this, about 9 inches, and larger ones about a foot tall.
