Some folks have asked why I have a dog in my logo…
“Scout” was my fur baby. We moved to Portland almost 10 years ago and we didn’t know anyone in the community. I joined a book club at the Portland Public Library and started taking quilting classes at MO’s to meet folks. I also went on a hunt for a puppy for company. A few months after moving in I found Scout online. She was a chocolate lab pup who was spoken for, but the family had second thoughts and decided not to take her. We didn’t hesitate and picked her up as soon as we could. My kid named her Scout from the book “To Kill a Mockingbird”.
Scout spent her days with us taking over the house, in the woods, the pool, kayaking or swimming in the river and eventually she was my sewing buddy. She spent many evenings after work in my sewing room hanging out while I quilted.
Scout developed masses like many labs do, but after some tests and scans we found out in September that she had cancer. Treatments would not improve her quality of life, and we knew in time she would leave us.
This spring, while we were in the process of purchasing the quilt shop, Scout went over the rainbow bridge. While the loss of my Scout is painful, she will continue to be with me in spirit as this new journey continues.
Sending thoughts out to all the others who have experienced the loss of their fur baby. ❤️
