I've been struggling with posting this choreo from for the last couple of days. It's so hard not to compare myself to the other people who in class who seem to be more flexible, coordinated, stronger, and above all thinner. But learning to accept myself, my body, as it is right now is the whole point, so here it is!

Who else is staying home and knitting for Thanksgiving this year? Covid has canceled all of my usual fiber events for the year, but it's been a lot of fun to see how we are managing to connect with the fiber community in other ways. That does mean I have A LOT of inventory for the holiday season this year though! You can use the code Holiday2020 on follyandnonsense.com to get 10% off your order through Christmas day.

I'm finally getting a whole bunch of new cases and bags that photographed! These have been languishing in the studio since all of the knitting shows got canceled this year. I'll be adding more each week until everything is posted. The notion pockets for the Interchangeable and Essentials cases has been updated and now closes with a zipper. This is more secure and less fiddly. The old flap pocket style cases are still available and the prices have been reduced, so if you have been thinking about getting one, now is the time!

Any orders placed in the next couple of days may be delayed a bit due to smoke and this heightened level of alert. For those of you impacted by the fires, please reach out and let us know how we can help.

We just posted a new batch of face masks to the website. I am particularly happy with the way the coral ombre turned out, it makes a fun, but subtle wearing option with several prints.

If you need to order larger quantities of masks, we offer price breaks for bulk orders at 10 and 20 masks. Send us a message or email for more information about bulk pricing and other mask options.

We have been very busy these last months in lock-down with some large mask orders for a local company. Now that that's done, we've started making more masks for ourselves and for you! If you need a more comfortable, fun, and reversible mask, these are for you. Insead of ear loops, our masks come with an elastic band and toggle to adjust the length. All of our masks have a comfortable nosewire to help with a better fit and prevent your glasses from fogging up.

Happy Wednesday everyone! I hope you are all healthy and able to take time to knit and create through this difficult time. I wanted to give you a heads up that Black Sheep Gathering has been canceled for 2020. I am hopeful that the remaining shows for the year will go ahead as planned. The artisans and businesses that rely on these shows for their livelihood (myself included) are struggling a lot right now, having lost a half years income. My current plan is to take a day or two for self-care and jump back on the horse! I have lots of inventory to get listed and share with you!

Finished projects are so satisfying, even more so right now when trying to maintain a sense of normalcy is so important. I'm trying to celebrate small accomplishments each day. Today I'm really pleased to have finally photographed two new pattern samples. The first is Libellula Grande done in two yarns from Shibui. The solid Pebble plays beautifully with the ethereal Silk Cloud. Details on the pattern are here - https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/libellula-grande

Have you finished a project this week? I'd love to see it!

Covid-19 has had a massive impact on all of our lives. Oregon is now under a stay-at-home order, so we are all hunkered down and doing out best to maintain a sense of normalcy while dealing with unprecedented disruptions to our daily lives. If we work together as a community and support each other, we will get through this thing. To that end, I have put together some information about sewing face masks for health care workers and am offering an option to donate a mask or buy one for your own personal use.

Fabric Face Masks March 24, 2020March 24, 2020 adminNews Hospitals and other care providers are currently facing a severe shortage of PPE (personal protective equipment, such as masks). Many hospitals are requesting that the community help make masks to cover the shortfall. Homemade cotton masks are...

Another week stuck in the house means another new pattern. St. John's is a fun, easy knit wrap that is great for using up smaller bits of yarn from your stash. Each garter stitch colored section uses 90 yards of fi*****ng weight yarn. The feather and fan bands are a good introduction to lace, making this a great pattern for an adventurous beginner or a more advanced knitter looking for something to work on while binging the latest series on Netflix.

Inspired by the bridges of Portland, Oregon, St. John’s is a easy knit wrap perfect for using up scrap yarn or a fun set of mini-skeins. Garter stitch bands are separated with rows of feather-and-fan, all worked from side to side.
