Landscaping is still in progress, and there will be much more to show in terms of the surrounding plantings in the coming weeks, but this is a great preview of this incredible house, its orientation to the Gorge, and the roofline from above.

Before and after of the car museum at our El Capitola residence in Vancouver, WA. With soaring ceilings and a glazed wall looking toward the courtyard, the space holds up to nine of the owner’s restored customized classic cars, including a gold 1952 Lincoln Capri, a jade-green 1956 Mercury, and the eponymous 1957 Chevrolet 210 (known as ‘El Capitola’ in its restored state). 🚘

Miramar, our design for a residence in Pacific Palisades, features limestone walls chosen for fire resistance as much as their texture, alongside teak accents at the doors and built-ins and terracotta at the fireplace surround. The L-shaped plan stays low to the land, opening onto terraces and reflecting pools where interior and landscape start to blur.

A favorite moment in the landscaping of our Hood River Residence project. The approach to the lower entry takes you through a grove of aspens planted beneath the main bridge. At ground level, the trunks, boulders, and native grasses form a privacy screen between the path and the adjacent guest room terraces. The canopy reaches clear up to the bridge deck above, uniting the two levels and creating a completely different experience when you enter at the street. We can’t wait to see how this continues to fill in as the trees mature.
