Stitchery The Stitchery offers sewing, knitting and crafting classes in Portsmouth, RI. Children & adults lear

The Stitchery is a needle arts education studio in Portsmouth Rhode Island focusing on keeping alive traditional crafts . Our initial classes will focus on hand and machine sewing as well as beginning knitting. In the future we hope to include many additional crafts, guest instructors and weekend workshops.

Back by popular demand—a class to sew Rope Bowls! Saturday October 17, 1:30-4:30. Everything is provided. Bring your machine if you like or use one of mine, I’ll have denim needles for you. I’ll show you several ways to personalize the bowl. We start with a small coaster to get the hang of things then make a bowl with your own unique design. Warning: this is an addictive craft! Next up in the Monday evening Foundations in Sewing classes—Quilting! These are just some of the fun things we’re going to play with. This 4-week series starts October 19. Registration is open on the website under “Adult.”

Know that I am *not* the quilt police. I do not believe in perfection. I do believe in doing your best, learning through mistakes and most of all, ENJOYING the process of learning something new. I’m really looking forward to it!

Learn 4 foundation stitches, image transfer techniques, resources for continuing after class, plus I have a brief slide show of what different embroidery techniques look like accompanied by a little trunk show of work I’ve done over the past 2 decades. Embroidery is the best portable hand craft to make it seem like you’re paying attention at that kids soccer game!
