Working in mid-range stoneware fired in oxidation, my work reflects my experiences in nature and an interest in agrarian cultures. I’m interested in how this lifestyle relates to our connections with the land and with one another. I see ritual and devotion in this kind of work . Ultimately, I’m interested in how these practices connect is with each other and the land, therefore instilling us with
a quiet but powerful knowing. My hope is that in making functional pieces for everyday use, I can offer the user a way to focus on the moment and make the connection between their meals’ origins and their place in the greater circle that is all of us. From the time a person chooses a cup or bowl from the shop and then the cupboard, they are making a choice to be reminded to stay mindful on daily basis – a small ritual. I believe these daily rituals, great or small, can bring us to a greater consciousness – a collective consciousness that might enable us to live a little better every day
