Offshoot during Tray build

You never know when you are working with different leathers what will inspire you.

When I was roughing up the Arif & Sons chomp navy I noticed the flesh side had almost a suede feel.

What so important about that…

I was asked at my last show if i had a glass case. The answer was no BUT I had just printed out a pattern for one last week. I promised to have a few at the September show to choose from.

I will pull the other chomp colors in stock to see if they also have that suede feel flesh side. If so I can make a single layered glass case vs double using suede as the liner. This will bring the price point down by half on the material side.

It is done. It is currently on its way home!

I really like the color combo that William picked out. Arif & Sons Chomp Navy and Badalassi Carlo Pueblo Olma with orange thread.

Sells for $80 at a local show and $100 via Etsy to cover the shipping via FedEx. Link in the comments.

•Top Grain/Full Grain leathers only… no Real, Genuine or fake allowed.

•Brass hardware

•Quality materials like glue, thread, burnishing cream etc

•Tools - right tools to do the job

•My Time - I am not cheap but I am not over the top expensive either. I could be though 😉😉

Tray - Stitching time

With trays the longest part of the entire process is stitching. Longer if there is an interior panel as well.

The key to stitching is consistency in your pressure and hand positioning.

Too much pressure the leather bunches.

Not enough pressure and the stitches are loose.
