The late summer garden is in full swing, and before everything is tucked in for the winter season, I decided to make some texture plates that I'll be able to use to make imprints in the studio all winter long!

I've got sunflower leaf and bloom, nasturtum leaf and bloom, hosta, castor bean, morning glory, and pampas grass! I'll probably make one for ferns, too. 🌱

When they are bisque fired, I will make a reverse imprint and have both an innie and an outie to use for stamping. Yay!

I unloaded the bisque kiln today. I checked over each piece, sanded the bottoms if they needed it, wiped things down with a dry towel to get any kiln debris off, and sorted everything by my glazing plans.

I set myself up for a fun and effecient day of glazing tomorrow! 💃🤩

Over the weekend, I held a clay class for some of my family members. The kids have been asking, and it was time. There was so much creativity in the house! They had fountains, gnomes, octopusses, sculptures, bowls, mugs, and plates pouring out of their fingertips. 👨‍🎨👩‍🎨 I am excited to fire their creations in the kiln.

Wanna see something cool? I accidentally left a sunflower leaf on the pot for too long and it molded. I couldn't peel the leaf off like I normally would, so I just decided to run it thru a bisque fire and figured it would burn out without a trace.

But look what happened! The mold left a really cool ash behind. So, now you know what sunflower leaf mold looks like when cooked to 1828°!

I wonder what would happen if I sprayed a glaze over this? Would it keep the pattern? There might be a neat experiment in my future!
