Beautiful is easy. Feeling something is the hard part, that’s the design. ✨

A well-designed home doesn’t just look good, it gives something back to you.

This one’s a favorite. A historic stone farmhouse; we built right up against it without losing what made it special.✨

The new addition gets the light and the height, big windows, a vaulted ceiling, a table built for entertaining. But it still reads like it belongs next to the original building. That’s the hard part of a historic addition. Making new construction feel like it was always there. 🏡

And the rooster floaty in the pool says it all, this is a house made for living in, not just looking at. 🐔

This is the kind of bathroom that doesn’t need a trend to feel right. 🤍

That blue tile is timeless, not trendy. The exposed beams aren’t a design choice we’ll regret down the road. Even the fixtures were picked to hold up to daily use, not just look good in a photo. Little things like a niche for soap or a window placed exactly right, that’s what separates a bathroom you like from one you actually love using every day.

This is what we mean by building something that lasts.

First light, one last weekend of summer. ✨

I always tell clients this: good design isn’t just what you see in a photo. It’s the cabinet that opens easy every time. The light that feels right when you walk in. Finishes you pick because they’ll still look good in ten years, not just this season.

That’s the part people don’t always notice, but it’s the part we care about most.

Happy Labor Day from all of us at Gruver Cooley!

No island. Just a table worth gathering around. 🤎

Our clients wanted a kitchen that truly worked as the heart of the home, a place where they could cook and host at the same time, with room for friends and family to gather.🧑‍🍳

Plenty of counter space for prepping, cooking, and washing. Creamy cabinetry to soften the room, and details that build character: trim around the windows, a vaulted tongue and groove ceiling, antique mirror behind the range, and antique bronze finishes throughout ok cabinet hardware and the range hood that warm the whole space.🔥

Soft, warm, and made for the people in it.🙌

Every space in this home started with a question: how does the person living here actually want to live? ✨

For this room, the answer was two things that seemed at odds. A quiet place to practice violin without interrupting the household. And an open space to gather friends, set up the band, and dance.💃🏻

So we built the room around both. Acoustic panels keep the practice private. Sliding glass doors open the room to the breezeway, turning a solo space into a stage.🎻

The Sherri Belassen art anchored the breezeway and pulled the whole palette together the moment we saw it- we knew our client needed it in their space!

This is what happens when a home is designed around a story instead of a trend. 🎵

A lot of people ask who they should hire first when they build a home. Architect? Builder? The truth is, the order matters less than the team.

The best projects we’ve been part of all had one thing in common. The team came together from the very beginning. People who communicate well, who get along, and who actually value what everyone else brings to the table.

It’s hard to do great work when someone doesn’t respect the expertise sitting right next to them. Everyone should have room to speak up. The client, and the team. You’re paying professionals for their knowledge, and the work is always better when the whole room appreciates that.

So we’re curious. Who did you hire first when you built your home?
