Happy World Teachers’ Day!

Looking back on my life, some of the biggest influences I ever had were teachers.

I definitely wasn’t always the easiest kid to teach, and I’m sure there were plenty of days I tested their patience. But there were teachers who saw something in me before I really knew what I was capable of myself.

Some taught me things I still use today. Some pushed me when I needed pushed. Some held me accountable. And some simply believed in me at a time when that probably meant more than they ever realized.

As I’ve gotten older, become a dad, built businesses, coached kids, and experienced a whole lot of life, I’ve realized just how much impact a good teacher can have.

It isn’t only about math, reading, history, or what’s on the test.

Teachers help shape confidence. Work ethic. Character. Curiosity. They can change the direction of a kid’s entire life with a few words of encouragement at exactly the right time.

So today, thank you to the teachers who influenced me, the teachers who are helping raise and guide our kids today, and every teacher who continues showing up even on the hard days.

You may not always get to see the impact you make.

But trust me — years later, some of us still remember.

Happy World Teachers’ Day! ❤️

THREE YEARS SOBER. AND YESTERDAY, I MARRIED MY BEST FRIEND. ❤️🙏

October 2 will forever mean more to me than I can put into words.

Yesterday marked three years of sobriety.

And after almost 19 years together, yesterday was also the day Heather and I finally said I do.

I don’t believe that timing is an accident.

For a long time, I’ve tried to live by a simple quote:

“Men of integrity commit to excellence.”

But there was a period of my life when I lost sight of that man.

I tried finding answers at the bottom of bottles. In pills. In things that promised an escape but slowly took me further away from the man, husband, father and Christian I wanted to be.

Three years ago, I made a different choice.

And God has continued to show me what was waiting on the other side.

Sobriety didn’t make me a perfect man.

I’m still not a perfect man.

I’m a man striving every day to be better than I was yesterday.

A better husband.
A better father.
A better friend.
A better leader.
A better servant of God.

I still fall short. I still make mistakes. I still have days when I don’t get it right.

But today I get back up.

I get to continue walking in God’s light.

I get to ask Him where He wants me instead of telling Him where I think I should go.

I get to try to do His will instead of always doing mine.

I get to be present for my family.

And yesterday, I got to stand beside the woman who stayed beside me through almost 19 years of life — the good, the bad, the beautiful and the ugly — and call her my wife.

That’s what sobriety gave me.

It didn’t give me a perfect life.

It gave me the chance to become a man worthy of the life God had already given me.

Three years down.

A lifetime still ahead.

And now I get to walk into this next chapter sober, married to Heather, surrounded by my family, and with God leading the way.

Men of integrity commit to excellence.

I lost sight of that for a while.

I haven’t forgotten it anymore.

Happy Sober Saturday. ❤️🙏

And to my wife, Heather — here’s to the rest of our lives.
