Busy weekend prepping segmented rings. Salad and serving bowls, vases and urns. Sure am happy to have a drum sander loaded with good sandpaper.

This is the result of a restoration project I recently completed. The piece was originally finished with a varnish. Later in its life, it was painted and “antiqued”. Once I got to the bare wood, the base was in good shape. Could not salvage the veneered top, the substrate had buckled and the veneer was too thin to sand. I decided to replicate the top, using a book matched walnut field with oak border. A blend of danish oils to make the oak compliment the mahogany base and finish with clear lacquer. @ Plano, Indiana

Any day in the shop is a good day. Beautiful spalted walnut bowls were extracted from their captors and freed to fulfill their destiny.
