What does flooring actually cost in 2026?

It's the first question almost everyone asks, and the honest answer is it depends on what you want out of it.

You can go bare minimum. The cheapest six millimeter luxury vinyl plank will get something on the ground. But thin, budget LVP rarely holds up the way people hope, and you usually end up paying for it twice.

For a floor that actually performs and looks the part, you're realistically looking at five to ten dollars a square foot for a solid mid range option. That range buys you quality you'll appreciate every time you walk across it.

Wondering how new hardwoods actually match the ones already in your home?

Most companies eyeball it. We don't.

Watch Warren pull the cover off a floor vent. The raw wood underneath tells us exactly what we're matching: species, grain, tone. If it's ash, we match ash. If it's something else, we match that.

It's the difference between floors that flow and floors that look patched together.

Old bank, new purpose — but the original concrete floors weren't keeping up.

Every footstep echoed. Conversations bounced off the walls. The space felt disconnected from itself.

We pulled the old flooring and laid new carpet wall-to-wall. Now the office flows as one cohesive space, the room sounds the way it should, and the whole place feels brighter for the team working in it every day.

If your commercial space is fighting you, the floors might be the reason.

Small change, big impact!

We were out at a project this week and walked into a layout that's pretty common around here — carpet in one room, wood in the hallway, carpet again in the next room. Three different floors fighting each other in the same hundred square feet.

Choppy. Made the space feel smaller than it actually was. Pain to keep clean too.

So we pulled it all up and ran wood through the whole thing.

Same square footage, but the house feels bigger now. Lines flow. Way easier to keep clean. And honestly? It just looks like a completely different home.

If your floors are doing that patchwork thing where every room has its own personality (and not in a good way), it might be time to bring it all together.

Would you rather walk into a cold, dark dungeon every morning, or a space that actually feels alive?

That was pretty much the question Warren asked when we got pulled into a project with a local real estate team. Their office floors were dragging the whole place down. Dim, closed-in, lifeless. You could feel it the second you walked through the door.

We swapped them out. Same square footage. Same layout. Completely different building.

Your floor is the first thing every client, every employee, every walk-in sees. Before the artwork. Before the front desk. Before the handshake. That's your first impression whether you planned it that way or not.

If the energy in your space feels off, sometimes the fix is right under your feet.

Jobs aren't about the invoice...

A Wake County facility that sees around 80 families a week had 20-year-old carpet glued straight to the concrete. Worn down from years of foot traffic, hard to keep clean, and honestly just not the kind of space those families deserved to walk into during what's already a tough time for a lot of them.

So we stepped in. Free of charge.

Pulled up every bit of that old carpet, scraped the concrete clean, and laid down LVP across the whole space. We went with LVP for a reason — it can take the traffic, it holds up to spills and wear, and it actually wipes clean instead of soaking everything in like the old carpet did. Built to last for the people who need it most.

It took some time. There were long days. But seeing the space come together at the end made every hour worth it.

Proud of this one. Grateful we got to do it.

Most people don't think about this part when they're picking new floors.

They focus on the color, the style, the price, the warranty on the box. All of that matters. But here's what doesn't get talked about enough 👇

A floor can come with the best warranty in the world. If it's not prepped and installed right, that warranty won't save you two years down the road when boards start lifting, gaps open up, or squeaks show up out of nowhere.

Almost every flooring problem I get called out to fix traces back to the install. Not the product.

Installation is where floors get made or broken:
→ Subfloor prep
→ Moisture readings
→ Acclimation
→ Clean cuts and transitions

All the stuff nobody sees once the job is done is the stuff that decides whether your floors still look great 5 and 10 years later.

That's why we take it so seriously at Raleigh Flooring. Every job. Start to finish. No shortcuts. No rushed timelines. No "close enough."

Because the floor you paid for is only as good as the team that put it in.

Here's the thing about new builds in the Triangle — they go up fast. And when builders are moving that quick, you don't always get a say in what goes on your floors!

That's exactly what happened here. This homeowner closed on their place and inherited carpet upstairs that just didn't work for them. They wanted something that matched the LVP they already had downstairs — clean, consistent, easy to maintain. But they thought that meant a big project, a big bill, or a long wait.
It didn't.

We came in after move-in, pulled the carpet, and matched the LVP upstairs to what was already running through the downstairs. The whole house flows now — same look, same feel, top to bottom. Quick turnaround. No headaches. Done right.

If you bought a new build and you're living with floors you never actually chose, this is your sign. It doesn't have to stay that way.

Most flooring quotes miss this completely…

When people compare flooring quotes, they’re usually looking at the surface—material, color, and price.

But the part that actually determines how your floors look and last?

Preparation.

If your subfloor isn’t level, your new floors won’t sit right—no matter how good the material is.

And this isn’t just when switching between hard surfaces.
Even going from carpet to LVP can reveal major uneven areas that were hidden by the padding underneath.

That “perfect” install everyone wants doesn’t start with the flooring…

It starts with what’s underneath it.

Every home—and every homeowner—is different.

In this case, we initially recommended LVP for durability and practicality. But the homeowner had their heart set on hardwood.

Instead of pushing our opinion, we listened. We asked the right questions, understood how they lived, and made sure the decision fit their goals—not just the “standard” answer.

Today, that hardwood floor is exactly what their family wanted—and it’s performing beautifully.

The best results don’t come from forcing a solution.
They come from understanding the people you’re serving.
