SESCO Lighting and WHOCO Lighting & Controls are now ONE!

SESCO Lighting, Inc., headquartered in Maitland, FL is excited to announce the acquisition of WHOCO Lighting & Controls (formerly W.H. Onley Company, Inc.) effective September 1, 2022. The acquisition of WHOCO Lighting & Controls will further strengthen SESCO Lighting’s growing presence in the Carolinas with nearly 70 employees between the two states.

WHOCO Lighting & Controls, Inc. was founded more than 30 years ago by William “Bill” Onley and purchased by Josh and Amy Allen in 2017.

Co-Owner and COO Josh Allen says, “It has been an honor to have been entrusted with the company that Bill Onley spent his life building. We’ve been extremely proud to represent our wonderful manufacturers and to have grown the specialty lighting and controls market in the Carolinas these last five years. WHOCO and SESCO have always held close working relationships within our industry. This acquisition is a logical next step, ensuring that specifiers, dealers, and customers in the Carolinas will continue to receive unparalleled support for their projects with the resources SESCO brings to the territory. Amy and I are excited for the WHOCO and SESCO teams and are confident that the Carolinas will continue to thrive with SESCO.”

Today we had the pleasure of providing training educators from many middle and high schools. We trained on new lighting technologies, and we trained teachers to use the legacy lighting consoles and equipment that they still have - some being 25 years old! WHOCO believes that supporting end-users on behalf of our manufacturers is key to maintaining relationships, and promoting the next generation of lighting professionals. If we can help “teach the teachers” how to better instruct their students on entertainment technologies, we solidify and ensure the future of the arts and our industry. As always, we are fortunate to represent who continues to innovate and set the standard for quality and customer service. It was a great day!

We all talk about IP Ratings when it comes to the fixtures we choose for our projects, but IP ratings alone are not enough. IK ratings determine impact resistance on a lighting fixture, which can be extremely important in architectural and entertainment touring applications. has issued a white paper about this in a quick and interesting read… link in bio ☝🏻!

We were excited to spend some time with UNCSA School of Design and Production staff and students this week for a moving light shootout, to show off the new HES Lonestar Fixture from ETC (Left)! It was beautiful. Have a great weekend, everyone!
